Carbon Nanotube Muscle is so light it floats - Video
My science boner hurts right now.
I’m imagining synthetic muscle bundles made out of this, used in cybernetic prosthesis. Not only are carbon nanotubes insanely durable and strong but they’re incredibly light.
This would cut down on the weight of synthetic body parts immensely, offsetting the weight of materials used for synthetic skin, bone and organs.
HOLY CRAP THAT IS SO COOL

Graphene Manchester: Finding the killer application
— On the road to widespread graphene adoption, many have come up with potential applications for the nano-carbon material, but are any of these the …
Scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory attacked a tangled problem by developing a new technique to grow tiny “hairy” materials that assemble themselves at the microscale. The key ingredient is epoxy, which is added to a mixture of hardener and solvent ins…
(Phys.org) Graphene has become an all-purpose wonder material, spurring armies of researchers to explore new possibilities for this two-dimensional lattice of pure carbon. But new research at MIT has found additional potential for the material by uncovering unexpected features that show up under …

Flexible demos I made today for an upcoming presidential visit next week. I thought it would be good to have something I can give her that she can pick up and bend. Hopefully the uni photographers can get better pictures than my crappy mobile phone pics though. Although I dare say, then I won’t be legally allowed to upload them on this blog *sigh*. Still, enjoy my mobile phone pics!
